What is WARPit?

WARPit is a redistribution network which makes it easy for individuals in an organisation to give away or loan unwanted items to others inside the same organisation or beyond.  Watch this clip to see a demonstration

This system is useful with any unwanted resource but is particularly powerful with furniture, electrical items, specialist items (such as engineering, medical research and lab equipment), fixture and fittings and office consumables such as unused inkjet cartridges, stationery etc.

Who is WARPit?

WARPit has been developed by Daniel O'Connor. Working with furniture reuse charities and within large organisations in the public and private sector, Daniel has witnessed first hand the problems which crop up when trying to reuse furniture and equipment. Dan says "I hope WARPit solves all the headaches involved with reusing resources- and helps to support chartable activities. If WARPit needs improving or additional features please drop me an email or give me a call!"

Why use WARPit?

The cost of goods and waste management is rising exponentially. Carbon emissions have a financial and environmental penalty. Organisations are seeking to improve efficiencies, environmental performance and demonstrate social responsibility.

WARPit encourages and fosters a community of resource efficient users. It also improves collaboration between organisations and supports charity.

The WARPit Mission

Only 10% of the raw materials used to make a product are found in the final product. So, the chair you are sitting on actually generated a further 90% of waste during manufacture. More alarmingly, the amount of waste generated for a single laptop computer is close to 4000 times its weight.

The WARPit mission is to keep stuff circulating to reduce waste and support charity and business.

What are WARPit clubs?

WARPit clubs are reciprocal resource sharing networks. Organisations can link up locally nationally and internationally to share common resources. This increases the range and frequency of resources passing between organisations, thereby using items and equipment more effectively. It also means you can always find a new owner for your "discombobulator".

WARPit values

We want to reduce waste and carbon emissions. We want to make it easy for business to divert surplus resources to charity and SMEs so they can further their aims.

We want public sector, business and charity to collaborate to reduce resource use, encourage efficiency and sustainability.

Dan said "Who knows what can happen when people and businesses micro collaborate like they can on WARPit? ".
